Notes regarding use of Coniuno with Windows Vista

Installation under Windows Vista (64 bit)

Currently no own installation program (setup.exe) can be offered for the 64 bit version of Windows Vista.
Instead the Coniuno program-files are stored in a zip-archive. To install the program please extract all files from the archive to an arbitrary directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Coniuno15) and run the program by clicking the extracted coniuno.exe afterwards.
 

Coniuno Help-file under Windows Vista (32 bit and 64 bit)

To display the Coniuno helpfile the Microsoft program WinHlp32 is needed.
This program however is not shipped any longer as a component of the Windows operating system and must be installed afterwards in order to use the Coniuno help.

Further note regarding the German setup program:

Coniuno supports a German and English graphical user interface. However, unfortunately the setup program is only available in German. To skip the setup program, you can also extract Coniuno directly from the zip-archive for Windows Vista (see above).

General notes for installing / de-installing Coniuno

First-Installation

Do install Coniuno, please follow the outlined steps:

1. Download the Program

  • Click on the according link in the table above to download the Coniuno-installation-files. The installation-files are stored in a self-extracting archive named "coniuno.exe".
  • To finish the download, store the the program in a temporary directory (e.g. "C:\TEMP") and start it. The installation-files will automatically be un-extracted and the setup-program will be started.
  • The installation files will automatically be deleted again after the setup-program has been finished (except the coniuno.exe-file that you downloaded).

Update-Installation

In order to replace an already installed version of Coniuno with a newer version, first de-install the old version (see chapter "De-Installation") and afterwards install the new version (see chapter "First-Installation").

Attention! As during the de-installation all parts of the program will be deleted (also the "Verbset"- and "Verbinfo"-files), it can be useful to make security-copies of these files (this can be useful, if you want to re-install Coniuno to a later point of time). You will find these files in the Coniuno's installation-directory (normally "C:\Program Files\Coniuno\Coniuno 1.2"). Export-/import-routines have been added for this purpose in Coniuno version 1.2.0.1.

The following files should be saved:

  • coniuno_verbs.ini
  • coniuno_settings.ger
  • coniuno_settings.eng
  • coniuno_settings.fra
  • coniuno_settings.ita
  • coniuno_settings.por
  • coniuno_settings.spa
  • coniuno_settings.lat

De-Installation

If you want to remove Coniuno from your computer, you can do this by using the 'Add or Remove Programs' function of the Windows Control Panel (Windows: Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs).

Attention! As during the de-installation all parts of the program will be deleted (also the "Verbset"- and "Verbinfo"-files), it can be useful to make security-copies of these files (this can be useful, if you want to re-install Coniuno to a later point of time). You will find these files in the Coniuno's installation-directory (normally "C:\Program Files\Coniuno\Coniuno 1.2").
