reflexive verb building, rules

Reflexive verbs

Coniuno uses the rules listed here to build reflexive verbs.

  1. Coniuno recognises reflexive verbs from the syntax: zich + verb, e.g. "zich wassen" => "ik heb me gewassen".
  2. Reflexive verbs are always built using the auxiliary verb "hebben", e.g. "hij heeft zich herinnerd".
  3. Coniuno always builds the reflexive verbs like real reflexive verbs, which means "ik => me", "jij => je", "hij => zich" and so on.
With real reflexive verbs the reflexive pronoun and the personal pronoun are always referring to the same person, e.g. "ik herinner me", but not "ik herinner ons". With unreal reflexive verbs, the person can differ, for example "ik was me", "ik was je", and so on.
