Portuguese verbs, general information

Regular verb groups

Verbtime differentiates between three verb groups.
These are the verbs ending on "AR", verbs ending on "ER" as well as verbs that end on "IR".

Auxiliary verbs

The Portuguese language uses the auxiliary verbs "estar", "ser" and "ter".
The auxiliary verb "ter" is used for building the composed tenses of all Portuguese verbs.
The auxiliary verbs "ser" and "estar" are used for building the passive forms. Here the "passive of process" is built with "ser". The "passive of condition" instead is built with "ter". Verbtime builds all passive forms as "passive of process", means by using auxiliary verb "ser".
