Group III.b (e-o-o), Rule III.b, Conjugation

Rule III.b: Group 3b, strong verbs with pattern "e-o-o"

 III.bAbbreviation:e-o-o (#3b)

Description: "e" for "o/o" substitution for strong verbs, whose verb primitives end on "e" and that are followed by two consonants, where normally the first of them is one of "l", "r", "m", or "n", sometimes also "f", "k", or "ch" ("ch" counted as one consonant).
In case the two consonants are identical (e.g. "trekken") then they remain in the Plural forms of the Voltooid Deelwoord ("wij trokken", not "wij troken" and "getrokken", not "getroken").

Example verb: 6.smelten (strong verb)

Application: -the verb's verb primitive ends on "e" and is followed by two consonants (l/r/m/n/f/k/ch + 2nd consonant).
-the "e" is replaced by "o", e.g. "wij smolten", not "wij smeltten".

  Applies for (weak verbs):
OTT (Present): -
OVT (Past): -
Imperatief: -
Voltooid Deelwoord (Past Participle):-

  Applies for (strong verbs):
OTT (Present): -
OVT (Past): all forms (e)
Imperatief: -
Voltooid Deelwoord (Past Participle):always (e), usage of "en", not "d/t"

  Example:
OVT (Past):weak: "lengen" => "ik lengde", not "ik long"
OVT (Past):strong: "smelten" => "ik smolt", not "ik smeltte"

Detection: Verbtime does not detect "e-verbs" automatically as strong verbs. If a verb shall be built strongly according to these rules, then it must be included in the list of strong verbs.
